When traveling for a few days or longer, the problem of effective packing can arise. With some planning and using storage techniques you will be able to pack your baggage to include all the things you need so that you will pack different bulky items avoiding wrinkling of clothes, fragile items crashing, etc. So, here are some essential time-honored tips to make your packing easier.
1. A Layer Cake and A Roll-Up Squeeze Packing Techniques
Certainly, to pack items effectively you will need some techniques but the main rule is not to throw all the things together in the hope that they will pack in the most effective way by themselves. Two the most famous techniques are called “a layer cake” and “a roll-up squeeze”, or simply folding and rolling. Though these are opposite methods, they both can be used in specific cases. The first one, the folding, is applied to folded garments, the longest items like blouses, t-shirts, dresses, skirts and pants to keep them from wrinkling. The second one, the rolling, is used to pack such clothes as cottons, wools and knits which can resist wrinkles. So, start filling your suitcase laying it on its back and putting into at first all the heaviest items in the center and accessories into corners. To minimize wasted space put the socks into shoes. That will be the first layer. End this layer with rolled items to protect the rest items from breakage.
