Taking your pet on holiday with you can cause a lot of undue stress for you and the animal, and unless you don’t have an option for pet care, it’s best to leave them at home. If you are moving, however, there are some important tips for travelling with a pet.
1. Leaving the Country
Dogs are better travellers than cats, but when leaving the cat isn’t an option it’s best to be prepared. First of all, if you are travelling or moving to a different country, find out all the medical requirements for bring an animal into the country. Some countries require animals to be quarantined for a certain period of time, be sure to check about required vaccinations and specifics regarding those. Some places may require additional information regarding the pet’s health, like rabies tests or microchipping.
