In a world full of junk food, fast food, carbs, refined carbs and added sugar, it can be difficult to stay in shape. You have to exercise, pay attention to what you eat and stay on schedule. It must all seem too hard and surely it is easier to eat a bag of chips than do 20 sit-ups, but you mustn’t give up. Here are 7 tips that will help you stay both healthy and fit:
1. Calculate your BMI (or body mass index)
Calculating your body mass index can help you figure out whether your weight is normal in proportion to your height. As you can see in the picture above, you can calculate it easily both in the metric system and the imperial one. After that, you can check the value and see if you are within the normal limits. This will help you greatly if you believe you are overweight and are actually not. However, this formula has certain limitations. It does not take into account factors which may affect a person’s weight or height, such as lactating or pregnant women, children and teenagers who have not reached physical maturity and are still growing, body builders, the elderly and a tendency for natural differences in height and weight ratios between races.
