2. Lascaux Caves, France
Another top forbidden places on Earth was found in Northwestern France. This is a complex of caves covered with paintings made by ancient (Paleolithic) people who are believed to live there more than 17 thousand years ago. These images depict large animals, precisely, mammoths. It is called “the prehistoric Sistine Chapel”. This historic wonder is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. It was found in 1940. The Lascaux Cave was opened to visitors until 1955, when it was damaged by carbon dioxide produced by the public. The caves have been closed with little breaks and now only scientists are allowed to enter.
